The Alto Minho Intermunicipal Community promoted the study in the context of the Aquamundam project, funded by the programme INTERREG V-A Spain-Portugal.
The diagnosis assesses aspects such as operation and quality of service, use of infrastructures and the relationship between these and the environment.
The Aquamundam project has recently evaluated, the urban water services in the Municipality of Viana do Castelo (from Alto Minho Intermunicipal Community), based on data collected in 2015; 2016 and 2017.
Together, it was possible to assess a total of 30 indicators for supply and sanitation services based on available information. The results show that, in general terms, quality levels of the service in the Municipality are good. Nevertheless, they also indicate possible points of improvement, among which we highlight:
– User adherence to the supply and sanitation services;
– Coverage of sanitation system costs, associated, in part, with the costs of treating infiltration into the drainage network.
