TECHNICIANS FROM CHD AND ITG VISITED THE ARTIFICIAL SWAMP IN FLORES DE ÁVILA TO OVERSEE THEIR FIRST MONTH OF OPERATION

During the visit, the characteristics of the different treatment stages and the development of the artificial wetland cells were evaluated

After the first months of the operation, the quality of the purified water was found adequate

At the beginning of December, technicians from the Confederación Hidrográfica del Duero and from the Instituto Tecnológico de Galicia went to the municipality of Flores de Ávila to evaluate, first-hand, the progress after the artificial wetland was put into operation.

The new purification system will be studied during 2020 to know the purification yields at the microbiological and physical-chemical level in each of the cells while comparing the suitability of the different plant species.

These works also contemplate assessing the incidence of the new installation on its environment through, for example, the monitoring of the fish population in the Trabancos River, that receives the purified water.

The visit has also served to review some aspects of the operation and maintenance of the wetland and the growth of the plants in the 10 cells that compose it.
